Water polyurethane dispersions Baybond® include both polyether and aliphatic isocyanate-based polyether polyurethanes. They are used as film-formers in fibrous compounds for thermoplastic, as well as thermosetting composite materials. Fibers are covered by gluing agent immediately following their production in order to apply their ability to plastics hardening.

Because gluing prevents fiber damage and provides mechanical linkage between matrix and fiber surface, it is the key to composite quality.
Film-former is the one of the basic components of gluing compound. Therefore, water-based dispersions Baybond® in polyurethane are specially designed for ensuring the optimum compound for fiber gluing. They can display very good film formation, they are soluble and provide good share resistance. They provide maximum compound flexibility owing to polarity and compatibility with typical gluing additives. The fibers covered by Baybond®-based gluing can withstand high mechanical loadings and heating. They are characterized by well-balanced cohesion, as well as elasticity and softness.
